We started with the Atlas Layout, HO-29 "The Central Midland." It is found in the Atlas book entitled Seven Step by Step HO Railroads (Item 13). Our modifications call for extensions of approximately 50% over the one-and-a-third scale miles described in the layout. To do this we will reposition the station and extend the yard so that the track will pass through the station and curve around and down, towards the wall of the table to your left. Unlike most layouts, this one does not run as a relatively narrow strip against a wall. It is W I D E, with lots of scenery.
