January 21, 2003. John added a little more water to the tank. Don't the plants look great! Plus, the aqua-color of the water blends well with Irene's decore.

This evening John and The Pumkin prepared the new Fluval filter by replacing it's media with the media from the original filter. Another quick-start technique for quick cycling as well as biological filtration. Below John is shown filling one of Irene's stockings with peat moss. This will hang in the holding tank to soften our very hard water and lower it's ph.

Pictured below is our 165-gallon holding tank (which is taller than Irene!) and a shot of some of the plumbing that will transport water from the holding tank in the basement to the first-floor tank, as well as empty tank water into the sewer.

Shown below is part of our newly constructed tank plumbing. If the big, white pipe running across the center of the ceiling looks bent to you, that's because it is! Feel free to email and consult with John for expert plumbing tips. Giggle!
